    It's all fenced in and not very impressive. Two negatives: Park office should open earlier. At least maps are provided at door for those who haven't had the foresight to download the many that are available online. It would behoove park officials to at least wrap some tape around more than just a few far-scattered trees to aide hikers in staying on trail.

    Road facts

    This is a highly popular place and a literal zoo on the weekends! We went on a Monday and it was heaven. Note: Many parts of the park are closed when the President is in residence at Camp David, which is literally on the outskirts of the park. Make sure to find out if he's there when you plan your visit. Beautiful scenery, lovely place. Paths are a bit hard to navigate if you are not sure footed, a lot of rocks and up and down hill climbing. Very enjoyable for our family, we hike regularly. We spent the Labor Day week-end camping at Owens Creek campground.
