Been watching the reviews for the show for some time now and I have to say that most people are confused. Confused on how a series is reviewed. When we speak about a sitcom comedy, by just watching one or two episodes it is fairly easy to judge the quality.
But when trying to analyze a series like X-Files, Lost, Fringe and so many other, one has to watch the whole bunch of arc episodes in order to have an objective opinion. X-Files which I also loved was about aliens As for the characters, and especially for Anna Torv Most of the reviews here are based on the first 3 or 4 episodes Yet the series is not without problems, but it will get better and better.
Most of the arc episodes are thrilling and most of the rest episodes are full of mad science got to love it. Here is a textbook account of the UFO abduction phenomenon, told from the perspective of a participant rather than an academic researcher.
Many others have told similar stories over the past decades, which have led scientists of the stature of physicist Michio Kaku to declare that the phenomenon should be investigated further. Although most of them are identified by pseudonyms, their relationship with Karla is clear and there is no reason to doubt her veracity. Unfortunately, hypnosis is a problematic source of information.
I have no basis on which to reach any conclusion regarding that. Someone or something was talking to me in a rather thin, erratic, rapid voice, but I could understand nothing. The talking did not sound as if it came from a machine, but it was nothing like a human voice, either. This lasted for another few seconds, and then the line went completely dead. Casey also remembered seeing a metallic sphere hovering above the courthouse the previous December.
Karla also remembered an experience she had in when she encountered four shadowy beings under a tree in her back yard.
These beings told Karla that they were her ancestors, and that she carried their wisdom in her body. This experience lasted about 40 minutes. Casey also remembered a childhood experience in which he and his father had been taken from their car while on a shopping trip, including some missing time. Karla came to believe that she and her group had been subjected to repeated abductions over a long period.
In August, James also recalled strange events that he had experienced throughout his life, including noises in the house; a skinny, unknown man dressed entirely in black; and a tall, featureless creature that would enter his bedroom and communicate with him telepathically. At these times James was unable to move or speak. More recently, however, James had begun to experience a woman who entered his bedroom, always from an adjacent interior room, during which James would be paralyzed until she left.
Karla subsequently discovered her to be an abductee herself. This feature of aliens is well attested in the UFO literature. James had also experienced an episode of missing time in connection with a bright multicoloured light in the sky that circled, hovered, and rapidly accelerated out of view. This occurred during a trip to St Louis where the aforementioned woman had told him to go on a Saturday night. He tried not to go, but a strange compulsion overwhelmed him. Three bright lights appeared in the sky, made a series of intricate motions, circled, and then hovered as the previous light had done, emitted coloured sparks, and then departed.
James also experienced what might have been teleportation. James also experienced about two hours of missing time after going out for a hamburger. I made it back! Fred also remembered seeing a UFO with two relatives in , but the previous October he awoke in bed after hours of walking alone in the street, his back covered with bruises and scratches and no memory of how they got there. Since then he had been afflicted with recurrent UFO related nightmares and phobias. In June , after attending their first MUFON conference, Karla and Casey were surprised to discover that their car was being followed by a white American model car on their way home late at night.
This was the second time, the first time also being after attending a UFO meeting. The first car was a white Chevy. One night Karla was overwhelmed by a desire to go outside about 3am, which she did with Casey and Jack. Jack saw a white bright flash in the east. The light flashed again, zigzagged toward the north, and then stopped, hovering. The light began to get larger, until Karla could see white, red, and green lights in a horizontal row. As the light got bigger, Karla realized that the object was approaching.
When she caught a glimpse of a dark pie-pan shape below the row of lights, she panicked and ran into the house. Casey also saw the pie-pan shape and the dull reflection the lights cast on the dark body of the craft before he, too, fled inside. On July 7, Karla woke up hearing more knocking sounds and another voice. The next morning she discovered that the TV was turned on, with the sound muted, as well as a set of small puncture wounds about an inch apart on her inner left wrist, and three solid white circles on her lower left abdomen.
The circles were arranged in a near perfect equilateral triangle, 15 mm per side. This was the first of many wounds that Karla would find on her body, many in triangular formations. Invariably these marks healed quickly with no pain or discomfort. The motif of the triangle, including triangular shaped UFOs, triangular formations, and triangular bodily marks, is well known in UFOlogy, especially since the s see David B.
Karla recognized the similarity of these experiences to poltergeist phenomena. David also evinced behaviour similar to le trance possession, during which he said and did things with no memory or control, not dissimilar from possession by the loa of Voodoo and other elohim-like beings. The lake suddenly became perfectly still and quiet. As they were packing up to go, the oldest boy, Richard, pointed to a formation of orange-yellow lights above the lake, low in the sky.
A single light appeared to lead several other lights with no sound. Several days later, Richard found several V-shaped scratches on his chest. One of the others admitted he had similar scratches on his buttocks. The sphere travelled at low altitude from west to southeast, less than a mile away, bobbing along like a cork on water, and lower than the storey building behind it. Karla also saw ordinary aircraft flying overhead.
The light approached her briefly, and then returned to its original trajectory. They said the bottom was covered with circular designs. The following August, Karla and Casey saw another erratic light moving fast and making sharp angular turns in the sky above them. She woke up to find someone tugging at the foot and the head of her coverlet. The dog freaked out, and next day her abdomen was sore, as though it had been stretched or inflated. She also found a circular mark at the base of her spine, with a straight cut inside the circle.
James also had several experiences, beginning January 3, in which he woke up with an irresistible urge to run out into the street, though he never knew why. He also found three parallel scratches on his neck. Finally, in May , James reported hearing choruses of voices, warning of an impending disaster, in which the real controllers of the world were about to reveal themselves openly, establishing the undeniable reality of UFOs the implication being that the UFOs either are or represent the "controllers".
He was told that the human race is about to face a collective crisis that will require us to prove that we are worthy of continued life.

The comparison with climate change is hard to resist, but hardly prophetic. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was organized in This is the last factual experience recounted by Karla Turner in Into the Fringe. Into the Fringe includes many standard features of the UFO experience: strange lights in the sky, huge triangular formations, the ability to move very slowly or hover, as well as accelerate rapidly and make acute right-angled turns. UFOs seem very interested in human beings; able to understand and respond to human consciousness, even telepathically; and induce bizarre experiences, including bodily marks, missing time, possible teleportation, and irrational compulsive behaviour in their victims and, often, their friends and families, since UFO experiences seem to run in families.
The UFOs are also associated with poltergeist-like behaviour including odd sounds, voices, footsteps, lights and other electronic devices turning on or off, etc.

Psychic researcher John Keel has also noted that many UFO experiences are preceded by poltergeist-like phenomena. Like the Ouija board and other spiritist manifestations, UFOs seem to have a penchant for communicating quasi-religious messages, and figure prominently in many major religions. They also warn of imminent threats to human existence, including a crisis that will soon challenge the survival of the human race, in connection with which Karla and her group have some special tasks to perform, and that new bodies are being prepared for them to inhabit in the new world that will follow.
This is reminiscent of Christian eschatology, where the corpse will be reanimated in a glorified body in a new, perfected divine world. Unfortunately, as Karla emphasized, UFOs frequently lie, mixing up truth and falsehood, and make false predictions about the future. For example, Karla and her group were told that the aliens would reveal themselves openly, proving the reality of UFOs, by , which did not occur in fact, Karla died of a virulent breast cancer in For this reason, it is impossible to believe anything they say, even if they do exist.
Once again, as in the Christian mythos, the servants of Satan are great liars. As far as I can see, there are really only four possible conclusions one can come to about the contents of this book — a sort of "tetradilemma": 1. The account is a fabrication. The account is a delusion. The account is true but mistaken. The account is true. Unless our academic system is irrefragably broken, we must assume that a Ph.
The phenomenon also appears to incorporate, perhaps responding to, the Christian mythos that would be second nature to Karla as an English professor, as well as her American colleagues. One cannot discount the dream-like character of some of the experiences, many of which occurred at night, during or in proximity to sleep in common with other abduction scenarios , although this certainly does not explain why a dozen people would spontaneously experience mutually consistent bizarre dreams, fantasies, and delusions over an extended period, nor does it explain the physical aspects of the phenomenon.
Consequently, one must accept that something real and non-ordinary happened to Karla and her group, without necessarily subscribing to the truth of the associated messages, dreams, or even the hypnotic regressions. As Karla points out, the aliens are always in control. Therefore, whatever one experiences may be inculcated by the aliens for their own purposes, and cannot be trusted any more than the messages.
If I were to criticize this book, it would be on this very point, as Karla seems overly willing to accept the results of the hypnotic regressions as real memories of actual events.

She also seems to make the same mistake as Budd Hopkins, of waxing moralistic, concluding that the aliens are malevolent, as though human morality has any possible relevance to non-human beings. Notes 1. There are four references to V or inverse V-shaped marks. The V or inverse V mark, called a chevron, is a heraldic symbol that represents ancient pagan civilization. It is also a symbol of military power. There are 41 references to scratches in Into the Fringe, starting on page
