A brothers love nearly severs a remarkable bond forever. I was immediately captivated by these two powerful siblings, Galen and Rob, who come to life in this action adventure.

Intrigue, mysticism, family, friendship and bad ass creatures abound as they fight and embrace their destinies to become part of an ancient Legacy. Dec 10, Lauren rated it it was amazing.
Custodes Noctis - Muffy Morrigan
Lists with This Book. Mar 22, Michelle rated it it was ok Shelves: Instead of flashbacks to the brothers' own lives, this book introduces the historical backstory of how the Hunt came into existence and morphed over time away "The Legacy" is a Supernatural-inspired piece of dark urban fantasy fiction about the reunion of two estranged brothers, but large sections of the book are flashbacks to the events that ultimately split the brothers apart.
Instead of flashbacks to the brothers' own lives, this book introduces the historical backstory of how the Hunt came into existence and morphed over time away from its intended purpose. In contrast to "The Legacy," most of the plot in this book takes place in the bleak setting of a small deserted beach tourism town and the surrounding woods.
In this way, it's decidedly less urban But that in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The Summoning (Custodes Noctis, #) by Muffy Morrigan
What made this novel inferior to its predecessor IMO was ho-hum worldbuilding and a lack of interesting character development for prominent secondary characters like Flash. The background of the Hunt and the history of the Keepers is were central elements to this book, but reading about them and learning the details from other characters that the brothers encounter was actually not very interesting and felt rather like a chore.
I'm not quite sure why Rob's enthusiasm for historical sagas and lore doesn't convey through to the reader In addition to Supernatural and the Cal Leandros series, Katherine Kurt's Adept series also now comes to mind as being similar in some respects to this book but ultimately being a better read some of the Adept books contain a huge amount of historical backstory. If you've read "The Legacy" and feel invested in Galen and Rob as fictional characters, this sequel is an okay follow-up.
e-book The Legacy: A Custodes Noctis Book
I finally finished The Hunt last night! Okay, that could be taken wrong. The reason why I'm so excited about finishing this book is because I have The Summoning already loaded and ready to go In The Legacy, we learn about the brothers Galen and Rob and basically what makes these wounded, prideful men tick. In case you're wondering In The Hunt, we learn that a decision Galen made years ago has dire consequences and I finally finished The Hunt last night! In The Hunt, we learn that a decision Galen made years ago has dire consequences and it will take more than just their strength, Gifts and bond to defeat an evil that is determined to destroy the world and has the means to do it.
The Hunt (Custodes Noctis, #2) by Muffy Morrigan
Trust me, it's not another run of the mill good vs evil, been there done that story. Morrigan has a way of ramping it up to the point that you're trying to guess what's going to happen next and in the next instant being totally surprised at where she's taken the action. By the time I was reaching the end of the book, I was ranging between excitement and despair. If I didn't know The Summoning was already out, I could have easily thought Just know that it's well worth the time to get sucked into the world of Emrys.
I hope you join me there soon!
The Summoning (Custodes Noctis, #2.5)
Apr 12, Anne rated it it was amazing. Brothers Galen and Rob Emrys are back in this sequel to Muffy Morrigan's debut novel The Legacy - and what a ride they're taking us on! I was zooming through page after page as the mystery of the ghostly hunt and what exactly the brothers' role in connection with it is were unfurled, until the final climactic chapters had me holding my breath from suspense and surprise right to the last page.
The novel gives the reader further insight into the two brothers and their relationship and, may I say, Brothers Galen and Rob Emrys are back in this sequel to Muffy Morrigan's debut novel The Legacy - and what a ride they're taking us on! As this story begins, younger brother Rob is struggling with the loss of one of his gifts when something sinister begins to affect him. When things come to a head, both brothers have to make huge sacrifices in order to save each other and themselves.
Once again, as in with the other Custodes Noctis novel I read, I found that my favorite part of this book was the way that the real world is mixed with that of the supernatural.
- La regina dei castelli di carta: Millennium 3 (Italian Edition);
- The Legacy;
- The Hunt: A Custodes Noctis Book!
I used to be into a lot more fantasy when I was younger, but these days I am finding that I like my daydream world to have just a touch of reality to it. This book does that well with talks of coffee and Jeeps interspersed with discussions about ancient weapons and otherworldly creatures. The story is equally about both brothers and another thing I liked was how the book shifts from each of their viewpoints, chapter to chapter.
The characters are very different from each other and I could easily tell from chapter to chapter whose viewpoint we were reading from. I also liked the appearance of Flash again, who brings a lot of humor to the story and breaks up the drama and tension nicely. Finally there are two new characters in this one that I really enjoyed.
Two talking ravens might sound like something very strange but in this story they work perfectly. My only problem with it was that it ended much too soon. When I got to the last big scene and realized it was over, I was very sad.
