Definition of like no other. I got to learn from Erin and Sammy, and know that I want a love like theirs. Erin also jokes that the guest room at their home will really be my room, duh. If you know me, you know my relationship with my Daddy. He takes care of my mom and sisters the way that a father and husband should. In October, my dad called. He let it slip that my mom was moving up his routine colonoscopy due to some bleeding he was experiencing.
I hate it when my parents feed me all this BS about not wanting me to worry, blah blah. After all, our parents are invincible right?
I mean my dad is the strongest man on earth, right? My mom called to tell inform me about my WORST nightmare , that my daddy was diagnosed with colon cancer.
But my mom told me straight, there was nothing I could do. My support in Raleigh was unbelievable. I prayed together with my roommates, and my community group. My dad was in the hospital for about a week and half after surgery.

My mom insisted on staying with him. But his spirit was always positive, he was just thankful. The care at Carteret General Hospital was so great and the surgeon did such a good job. The ironic part, my dad had to pass gas before he could leave that meant everything was working properly. We did get a good laugh about that! Dad was able to recovery pretty well or at least we thought. I would get calls that dad just rode up the street for 30 minutes?? All was going well for the most part, as far as I knew.
Then, I got another dreadful call. Dad was back in the hospital. He was violently throwing up from about lunch time to the next morning. Come to find out, after removing about 3 feet of his colon and reconnecting, some scar tissue had blocked his intestines. Two ways this could go down, but either way they had to open him wide open. Whereas before they had done everything microscopically so the healing is faster. Not to mention the risks of having two major surgeries within a month of each other. Thankfully, they were able to remove the blockage and make sure everything was open and working properly again.

This time around, my dad was losing his good spirit. He hates the hospital and the thought of staying there another weeks was daunting. Not to mention, starting over with healing and an even longer road than before to recovery. My sister, Emily was our rock. She held us all together and whipped my butt in shape whenever I would start to lose it.
My other sister, Hannah came down from Boston with her 4 month old and I think that saved us all. Dad was just thankful for more time with his new grandson.
