Be on the Move in a Minute with our Marseille Transfers

The sunset view was stunning and we were entertained by the locals playfully diving into the sea from the rocks. Overall very good, but the prices limit it to special occasions. I am pleased to report that I was not disappointed. The concierge at our hotel kindly booked our table and suggested that we dine at lunchtime when the sea was at its best. Before talking about the staff and food its worth mentioning that the location is superb with great views from all tables over an azure blue sea. The staff are all immaculately dressed and provide the highest quality service.

Dining and wine suggestions were given MaItre'D and Sommelier and we were not disappointed. If you like local dishes the Bouillabaisse is to be tried along with every fresh and extremely well presented dish. A tip if you are not a wine connoisseur let the sommelier assist you his choices were fantastic and complimented the food perfectly.

One of our top 10 dining experiences of our lives and we have travelled extensively to many countries over 'many' years. Nothing particular from the outside but once you enter L'Epuisette - WOW The staff are charming and attentive, from the first greeting we felt as valued customers. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they kindly ensured we had a window table overlooking the oceans rocks and vista of the Chateau d'if.

The food was 'magnifique' and presented in an elegant style. We were treated to little starters which were delicious and prepared the palate. Of course we wanted to try the Bouillabaisse and were advised beforehand that their recipe is of the traditional style which we already knew from reading tripadvisor. The true Bouillabaisse is primarily of fish though in Marseille a lot of restaurants will offer cheaper versions of this dish more as a fish stew with all sorts of seafood. We wanted to drink the local wine and the Sommelier was happy to recommend a delightful wine to follow our glass of champagne.

Our dining experience was completed with a surprise crisp, crackling sweet 'Queen of icecreams'. Yes this is an expensive restaurant, worth every euro. L'Epuisette is a unique dining experience and the ambience created around a vision of limestone and ocean is a beautiful memory. We will return.

This restaurant is an icon eatery, a cab ride away from the Port of Marseille. Its position, perched neatly on a rocky outcrop in the fishing port of Vallon du Auffes,is eye-popping.

Marseille: Beyond Bouillabaisse

The shimmer of silver over the water is mesmerising. The reception was like a homecoming. Cordial and warm and utterly professional. The view creates a romantic impulse immediately We chose a Cassis white by the glass as we were going to further explore Marseilles, afterwards.

We recommend protection from the sun in summer and warmer clothes in the winter time. Occasionally the Route de Cretes road is closed due to high winds, in this instance, the route is varied to visit La Ciotat via the route national. Some of the high viewing areas are on unguarded cliff sections with steep drops - we advise against people taking selfies and going to close to the cliff edges.
